Our History

1964 - Andreas Sophocleous establishes the AS company with the opening of the first AS self service supermarket in Famagusta Cyprus.

1974 - Having laid down strong retail roots and valuable commercial experience together with  a passion for customer service, Andreas Sophocleous  is headhunted to head up the project team to set up the Alpha Beta Vassilopoulos chain of supermarkets now  one of the most important and  largest established  supermarket  retail chains  in Greece.

1979 - Andreas Sophocleous returns to Cyprus and opens up three new Alpha Sigma supermarkets in Limassol.

1990 - The AS family  commence the successful  importation and distribution of food products for the Cyprus retail and food service  market. A passion for the development  of imported  brands  and  the  pioneering of   Ethnic food groups establishes the AS Company as one of the leading import distribution companies in Cyprus.

2008 - The AS Company expand their operation with the opening of their new state of the art head office and  6000 sqm distribution centre in Fassouri near Limassol offering  the highest levels of service to its customers.

2010 - The AS Company continues to grow in strength and now offers a comprehensive range of over 50 food brands serving 2000 customers in Cyprus. Its passion  for developing brands continues and its wide portfolio and management of brands such as Waitrose, Blue Dragon, Casa Fiesta and many others truly offers its suppliers and customers a platform as a one stop leading distribution company in Cyprus.
